Sixteen months later, we received the diagnosis.
“Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS,)” an older doctor with a tired face and slumped shoulders told us. “Life expectancy, 2 to 5 years.”
There was no medicine to cure it or slow it down. He prescribed Riluzole which could extend life by two months. There was nothing she could try. No way she could contribute…
